Final Major Project
A sense of freshness and playfulness will be at the forefront of this exciting Mother-Daughter Spring/Summer 2023
collection. Exploring the juxtaposition of the pebbled, beach-hut lined coast, and the endless green fields of the South Down’s against Brighton’s populated city centre. Growing up in Sussex, particularly Brighton & Hove, creates an exciting understanding of the beauty that
nature holds and the contrasting urbanisation sandwiched between the beaches and the Downs.
The collection will reveal a series of stories and personal memories; from day trips to the beach, picnics on the Downs and the bustle of people amongst the Laines. Each design will capture the variety in Sussex’s landscapes by extracting both organic and interesting shapes, alongside a variety of unique textures. The electric, exciting feel of Brighton & Hove will be visualised through nature, landscape, architecture and people, creating unique, fun designs, using a bold yet sophisticated colour palette suitable for both womenswear and childrenswear.
The initial drawings and designs will be inspired by local artvists and photographers such Faye Bridgewater and Coleen Slater as well as the works of Marion Barraud and Patrick Heron. Also taking colour inspiration from David Hockney and Laura Slater.
